Dr. Phillip Kapraun is an Omega Tau Sigma alum. As a graduate of the University of Illinois’ College of Veterinary Medicine, he belonged to the Theta chapter. Today, Dr. Phillip Kapraun operates an equine-focused veterinary practice with professional and research interests in diagnosing and treating lameness. Omega Tau Sigma (OTS) is a fraternity dedicated to fostering the educational and career development of aspiring veterinary medicine practitioners and researchers. The University of Illinois’ Theta chapter of OTS was established in 1956.

OTS’ official colors are navy and maroon. Its official flower is the white carnation, which was adopted by the Grand Council in 1950 after inspiration from Auburn’s Zeta chapter’s “White Carnation Ball”. The fraternity’s pin consists of a diamond-shaped badge made from yellow gold with a black diamond marking its center. Within the center is a small square with the fraternity’s three Greek letters engraved. Omega Tau Sigma members can choose to wear guards for their respective chapters with their pins. Notably including animals, OTS’ coat of arms represents defense and protection of the animal kingdom. The shield shows a lion and ram framing a sword and spear, adorned with a helmet at the crest.
